Hi Anne (I used to call you Annie),
Happy Birthday! I assume you are 66, since I just passed that milestone (one more 6 and we could make Satan jokes). Anyway, have a wonderful year!
I have so many Warner Avenue memories that involve you and the good (and not necessarily so good) times we had. Do you remember smearing red berries on a white Cadillac parked across the street? And getting into big trouble. Cartwheels on your lawn, which had the perfect slant.
As I type, I'm looking out at the Atlantic ocean. Jack and I live on the coast of Maine in a fishing village called Harpswell. It's in Midcoast Maine, about 2-1/2 hours north of Boston. The gene pool is a bit thin up here, but the air is clean and we're near Bowdoin College, a world class institution, so we can audit classes. Actually, Jack audits classes. I do a lot of volunteer stuff that keeps me busy. And I have a big garden (for the three month growing season, that is). Right now we're babysitting for our first born, a grandson named Blake who will turn two tomorrow. His mother is here from London for her 20th high school reunion at Phillips Exeter in New Hampshire. Blake has a cousin Teddy who is two weeks younger than he and who lives in the Boston area. And Teddy has a one month old brother, Henry. Blake will have his own sibling in November. So Jack and I travel between London and Boston a lot.
Corki sent me your email address. She and I got back in touch a while back and rehashed our entire junior high school experience. It was wonderful therapy. I've stayed in touch with Marsha Kramer for years. Facebook gives me glimpses of people I haven't seen for years, since I went away to school from tenth grade on.
Betsy (Betsy Brown Braun) lives in Pacific Palisades with her husband Ray. She is a parenting guru. She is on television a lot and she's had two parenting books published. She has 33 year old triplets, all married, but no grands yet. Jon is also in the Palisades, is divorced and has a 20 year old son. Jon is in the entertainment business. Mom and Dad passed away in 1995 and 1997.
You must have wonderful children if they go the idea of having your old friends contact you by email for your birthday. What a clever idea. I'd love to hear from you.
